Post Bone Broth Detox, and Inflammation of my Eye

Well, my detox went great.  I did the bone broth for 3 days, and then added in sauerkraut for 2 days.  I was doing good.  My cravings were gone, no hunger pangs, and I had plenty of energy.  On my 5th day I had plans to go to Las Vegas to visit my sister, and there went my detox.  I didn't even plan to eat healthy.  I had a few drinks, ate at the buffet, and went to bed.

It has been 4 days since Vegas, and I have had a lot going on with my health.  I should have followed the detox directions better.

Since I am already dealing with an auto immune disease, this was very bad for me.  Reiter's Syndrome is basically my body attacking my connective tissue.  For the last year, it has attacked my hip.  My husband gives me an Enbrel shot every month when the pain starts coming back.  Well, not only did it attack my hip this time, but my eye too.

After the first night in Vegas, I woke up with one painful eye that was all red.  Just moving my eye in the darkness would hurt.  On Monday, all light hurt my eye.  It was as if I had a major hangover, and then looked at the sun.  I tried covering my eye that hurt, but when my other eye would see light, I felt the pain in my red eye.  I went to my eye doctor.   He prescribed me steroid drops with an antibiotic, and had me come back in 3 days to see how it was going.  After taking the drops for a couple days the pain was mostly gone, but when he checked it was still very much inflamed, and he said I had already lost a lot of pigment.  I guess some of the color in my eye is not stuck to the lens.

Now he is worried that my pupil will stick to the lens of my eye, which he said could cause me to loose my eye.  YIKES!  He prescribed me some drops to dilate my eye for a whole week, and then I will go in again on Monday for another follow up.

I asked him what would have caused this, he said it was just common with auto immune disorders.  I think the fact that I killed all the good and bad in my body, and did not feed it good food long enough before eating sugar and grains, is why my  body started attacking itself even worse.

Monday after my appointment, I had my husband give me another Enbrel shot.  So here I sit, with only one eye that can focus to read and see any detail.  My dilated eye is pretty worthless right now.  All pain in my eye is gone, but I can't see.  I am still taking the steroid drops, and hope by Monday the inflammation will be gone.

Auto immune diseases suck butt!  I still have my foot pain from Plantar Fasciitis, and I take ibuprofen daily to take the edge off, but I still limp most of the time.

How pathetic, one gimp foot, and one worthless eye.  I am debating doing the detox again, but haven't convinced myself yet.

Bone Broth Detox Day 3 and 4

Yesterday was my third day.  At the end of the day I was ready to start adding in sauerkraut.  I ate about 1/2 cup.  It was a bit refreshing to have something to crunch on.  I continued to drink my broth at night, and ate a little chicken.  I was not hungry at all.  I also started a vitamin C flush.  I got home from work, and when I realized I was supposed to start this, I did right away.  I took a heaping teaspoon of vitamin C powder at 7, and another at 7:30, 8:00, and 8:30.  I gave up and decided to not finish it and start over tomorrow.

WELL, around 10:30 at night when I was lying in bed, I felt the first sensation. These "flushes" as I will call them came every 15 minutes for the first 4 of them, then a few times later after I was fast asleep.  I am sure glad it would wake me up, because when it's ready to come out, there is no waiting!  Make sure you have a least 5 or six hours to do this flush.  Stay close to a toilet, no playing in the yard or going for a walk.  When it's time, it's time!  My last flush was around 2:30 in the morning.  Good thing I fall asleep easily.

Today is my fourth day drinking 2-3 cups of marrow like before.  I ate about a 3/4 cup of sauerkraut, and some chicken.  I feel great.

This morning when I was getting dressed, I noticed my pudgy belly was a lot smaller.  Obviously, I haven't eaten sugar or carbs for 3 days.  I am sure that helps.  I weighed myself and have lost 4 pounds.  I was able to wear a simi form fitting shirt today.  I felt good not having a big bulge sticking out of the top of my pants.

On day 5 the plan says that I can add in more foods.  I just haven't yet.  I bought some frozen berries, unsweetened almond milk, and organic vegetables.  I can make shakes!  I can add whey protein too.  I might make myself a berry shake for breakfast tomorrow.  I sure hope it doesn't make me crave sugar.  I am liking not being hungry or having the munchies.

The plan says I can add berries, hemp, chia seeds, avocados, steamed vegetables, squash, zucchini, and blended vegetables, whey protein, and Amasai shakes.  Amasai is a fermented dairy beverage, I google it.   I can even have coffee now!  Since I love creamer in my coffee, I am going to make coffee, and cool in fridge to make a coffee smoothie.

Bone Broth Detox Day 1 and 2

I started this detox yesterday, and it wasn't as bad as I expected, I thought a few times that I would cave.  I did great!

Lot's of chicken broth, a little chicken, one organic grapefruit, and as much water as I could want.  I did have cravings twice, and pushed past them.  It helped to eat a little chicken, and drink a cup of broth.  That took the hunger pangs away.

It didn't help that my husband brought in 2 frozen pizzas from the outside freezer. I LOVE those little Totino's pizzas.  I could eat a whole one to myself easily.  SO, I told the family I was going to disappear while they cooked and ate the pizza.  I filled up my cup of broth, and went to take a nice hot bath.  In the bath I did some EFT tapping.  I told myself, "I don't need food, I am getting all the nutrients  I need in this broth.  I don't need food.  This broth is all I need.  Even though I love pizza, I don't need pizza or anything else....".  I think it helped.

To hide the pizza aroma, I put a few drops of essential oils in my bath.  I used a drop of peppermint, and a couple drops of valor.  I never smelt the pizza, and the family had it gone and cleaned up before I got out of the bath.

I went to bed at 9:00 and had no problems.

I woke up this morning feeling great.  My foot pain (plantar Fasciitis) was exactly as it has been for the past 5 plus months.  I had hopped that I could at least walk without a limp.  No luck, my foot hurt all day at work, and still hurts when I stand.  I am guessing that my foot pain is not caused by a leaky gut.

Even if my foot pain does not change, I will still do this detox.  I take Enbrel shots monthly for RA, and I know arthritis is caused by a leaky gut.  Certain foods I eat when my shot wears off, make a huge difference in my pain.  I am doing this detox to re-set my metabolism, and fix my leaky gut.  I want to be healthier.

Today was so much easier than yesterday.  I cooked my kids eggs, and cleaned the kitchen.  No cravings at all!  I made tacos for the family tonight, and no problem.  I do love tacos though, so every time I thought about the smell and flavor, I would tell myself, "I don't crave food, I am getting all the nutrients by body needs in the broth.  I don't need food.  I don't crave or need any food."  I also put some lavender essential oil under my nose to help mask the smell.

One point of advise, put your broth in a coffee thermos that will keep it hot or warm for hours.  Cold broth does not taste good at all.  My broth was warm all day at work in my thermos.  I was never grossed out.  I will drink from that from now on.

Broth Detox

I started my detox today.  It's four in the afternoon, and I have some munchies. I have been thinking about food often, because I tend to snack a lot.

I went on a short hike this morning to avoid the good smells of food in my house. I figured if I wasn't here to see or smell it, then it would be easier.

So far I have drank about 2 quarts of broth, about 20 oz of water, a few pieces of the chicken, and ate one organic grapefruit.  I ate my grapefruit super slow, to make it last.  Savor the good tastes.

I do have a minor headache though.  I am not sure if I am detoxing too fast, or if my body just misses food.  If it gets worse I will take something, but right now I'm hanging in there.   A couple times today I have had the thought that I might not last this cleanse.  I've never done a cleanse, or detox that was so restrictive.

I can do this! I can, I can, I can..

Here are some symptoms I am hoping to get rid of;
Right foot pain, hard to walk (Plantar Fasciitis), and on my left side of my back hurts when I lie down.  I can only sleep on my right side, or I have the pain.  I don't know what that pain is, but I know it keeps me from sleeping as comfortably as I used to.

I would also love to reset my hormones.  I have gained 26 pounds in the last year, and I'm blaming it on turning forty.  As soon as I got close to my birthday last year, I started gaining weight.  I don't think I have changed any eating habits to cause this.  It is very frustrating to not fit into your clothes, and everything is uncomfortable.

Broth Detox Cleanse

I have had foot pain for 5 months now.  All of my symptoms seem to be the same as my sisters, and she has been to multiple doctors and no fix.  She said her doctor said it is Plantar Fasciitis.  I have not been diagnosed, either way it is super painful to walk, stand, or flex.

I was diagnosed with Reiters Syndrome 10 years ago, and now know that many diseases are caused by leaky gut.  Often times my foot pain is not as bad, and other times it is so hard to walk.  I have not figured out what foods make it hurt worse, I just know it gets worse.

I have tried taking 800 mg of Ibuprofen, and then even took two, against my better judgement, and it may have taken the edge off a little, but did not work.

My friend told me about all the pain she was in 5 years ago, and went to an amazing doctor that has special abilities to read peoples bodies.  Anyhow, he quit practicing and opened a nutrition store, so he could help people the right way. I believe he developed this detox.  Dr. Werner at Health and Longevity.

She told me how to make this chicken broth with a whole chicken, all pieces in a crock pot covered in water with a chopped onion, apple cider vinegar, and a couple TBL of Real Salt.  Crock pot for 24 hours, and then start the detox.

Drink this broth for 3-5 days.  No food, just all the broth you need or want to curb your hunger.  This is supposed to heal your leaky gut, and kill off all bacteria.  After the detox, you have to follow it with organic foods, no sugar, no flour, no vegetables...

If you don't eat right  coming off this detox cleanse, then the flora in your intestines will not be balanced.  It sounds like it kills all bacteria, good and bad, like an antibiotic but the healthy way.

I bought my organic chicken, and it is in the crock pot right now.  I will start this detox tomorrow, and will blog daily to tell you about it.  Today I will eat normal.
